Habitat partner families are carefully screened using three selection criteria:
•housing need
•ability to pay
•willingness and ability to partner
 
Once approved, partner families are matched to a property and begin meeting partnership requirements:
•working 300 sweat equity hours
•saving $1,800 for closing costs
•attending required classes for Financial Fitness and First-Time Homebuyers
•representing Habitat publicly by speaking at events and with the media
 
Partner families are also matched with a volunteer "family friend," or mentor, who helps them throughout this process and beyond moving into their home.  Our ministry believes these relationships are central to that part of our mission of building families.
