In 1993, our affiliate acquired 33 lots off Jersey Road through the generosity of the Weisner family and assistance from Communitiy Development Block Grant funding. This Habitat community has been under developement since, with 26 ranch-style homes having been built.
Church Street Neighborhood In 2006 our Board of Directors made a strategic decision to be part of a broader effort to help revitalize the Church Street neighborhood of Salisbury by increasing the level of homeownership. To date, eight Habitat families have become homeowners in this core-city neighborhood and three additional properties are under development. In addition to building homes, our affiliate and partner families are involved with community-building efforts through such organizations as the Ministerial Forum, the Wicomico Neighborhood Congress and the C-SAFE program. These efforts represent that part of our ministry that includes building neighborhoods. |
Habitat's ministry is much more than "sticks and bricks." We commit ourselves to working with our partner families, other neighborhood residents and community organizations to enhance the quality of life and relationships throughout our community. |
