SALISBURY, MD – A groundbreaking ceremony for the 72nd Habitat for Humanity home built in Wicomico County will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at 11 a.m. at 313 Barclay Street, Salisbury, MD. The Nacky family has been selected as the Partner family for this home.  Rhoda Nacky and her three children are excited to be a part of the Habitat for Humanity Partner Family process. Ms. Nacky is currently employed at Dove Pointe and is taking classes to earn her nursing degree. Ms. Nacky will help build her new home alongside volunteers and skilled contractors and pay an affordable mortgage.

This home is being built in part by funds from the City of Salisbury Community Development Block Grant program, the Richard A. Henson Foundation, The United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore, and numerous donors. The new home will sit on lots donated by GNI properties and a private donor. Ms. Nacky, Habitat’s newest partner family, was chosen after a rigorous screening process that includes a need for decent housing, a willingness to partner with Habitat to build their home, ability to pay and workable credit.  Executive Director, Molly Hilligoss is thrilled to help Ms. Nacky achieve her dream of homeownership and states, “Homeownership is the key to building generational wealth and breaking the cycle of poverty.”
